Thanksgiving on the Farm – DOWNLOAD
[Verse 1]
The turkeys disappeared, they’re hiding in the hay,
They know Thanksgiving dinner’s just a few hours away.
The chickens don’t get it, they strut around with pride,
Thinking all this fuss is ‘cause of the eggs they provide.
[Chorus]
It’s Thanksgiving on the farm, a feast for man and beast,
The pigs are hoping they’ll get more than scraps at least.
The stove is working overtime, the dog’s feeling tricky…
But the goat ate the recipe card—now dinner’s Piggly Wiggly.
[Verse 2]
The cows sniffed the pumpkin pie, they don’t understand,
Why you’d bake up a pumpkin instead of serve it from the land.
The potatoes took hours, caked in mud from the field,
But nothing says “thankful” like a fresh-dug meal.
[Chorus]
It’s Thanksgiving on the farm, a feast for man and beast,
The pigs are hoping they’ll get more than scraps at least.
The stove is working overtime, all the dog’s sees is meat,
But the goat ate the recipe card—now dinner’s Market Street.
[Bridge]
The hay bales make good seating, if you don’t mind the splinters,
The barn’s so warm, we might skip the kitchen for dinner.
The animals think they’re invited—they’ve claimed their plates,
While the turkey’s plotting his daring escape.
[Verse 3]
After hours of cooking, the chores still call,
Feeding the animals first? Now that’s a Thanksgiving haul.
Everyone’s thankful for the harvest and the feast,
We’re sure to thank the feller that grew it at least.
[Chorus]
It’s Thanksgiving on the farm, a feast for man and beast,
The pigs are hoping they’ll get more than scraps at least.
The stove is working overtime, the dog’s sayin’ “Make my day.”
But the goat ate the recipe card—now dinner’s Safeway.
[Outro]
So here’s to farm Thanksgivings, with chaos and charm,
Where every meal’s a memory, down on the farm.
From turkeys in hiding to pies in the pan,
We’re thankful for farm life—mud, manure, and hands!

Songwriter’s Notes:
Fine Dining for the Feathered
- The farmer considers whipping up a gourmet feast—until he remembers the turkey eats worms daily.
- Should it be corn on the cob or just the whole cornfield? It’s their last hurrah, after all.
- He thinks about offering mashed potatoes, but turkeys don’t appreciate the difference between mashed and mud.
- A salad of fresh greens? Or just let them peck at the garden like usual—fancy plating optional.
- The farmer debates setting a place at the table, but the turkey might not understand the irony.
Sentimental Surprises
- A bucket of mealworms—because nothing says “Thanks for being you” like their favorite squirmy snack.
- Letting the turkey roam the pasture freely for one day…as if they don’t already do that every day.
- A spa day for the turkey: dust baths and a fresh hay bed. Self-care is important, even for poultry.
- A playlist of soothing gobbles and clucks to set the mood for their “special meal.”
- The farmer considers a dessert course—maybe a pumpkin pie? But no one’s sure if turkeys like whipped cream.
Cold Feet and Alternative Plans
- The farmer briefly considers turning Thanksgiving vegetarian…then smells the pies and shakes it off.
- “You know, maybe the turkey can just be a guest this year,” he says, nervously eyeing the chopping block.
- He wonders if the family would notice if tofu made a surprise appearance instead of the bird.
- The farmer starts writing a speech about “why we should be grateful for turkeys—alive or otherwise.”
- By the time the meal is ready, the turkey has somehow convinced the farmer to consider Christmas goose instead.
