“Positive Thinking, Positive Drinking”

Performed by: Bale Harrison and the Field Hands

Lyrics and Music by Alan Nafzger

Verse 1
I start my day with Tanqueray, call it sunrise cabaret,
My thoughts line up like Chardonnay, saying “Kid, today’s your holiday.”
I stir my dreams like Bacardi, crash the doubts like it’s a party,
My brain goes, “Don’t be tardy,” but my heart’s a tipsy smarty.

Every sip’s a pep talk, that’s my Jameson Games-I-Won creed,
Tell myself I’ll “tame the sun,” even if that’s blatant overreach.
Grey Goose logic says “let loose,” good excuse for joy to roam,
My mind’s Patrón on a throne, leaving worries in airplane mode unknown.

Chorus
Positive thinking, positive drinking,
Raise your spirits, raise your glass without blinking.
Life pours problems, but I keep clinking,
Mixing up hope with the stuff I’m drinking.

Verse 2
Fireball whispers “after all,” give your doubts a curtain call,
Hennessy says Tennessee remedies cure anything at all.
Cointreau tells me “go with the flow,” Malibu sings déjà vu,
Absolut’s resolute reboot says try again until you’re new.

Bud Light gives me “good night,” Coors says “outdoors, this fight,”
Stella calls me “Cinderella,” Modelo greets me warm: “Hey fella.”
Guinness claims I’ll win this business, Heineken mutters “try again,”
By the time Blue Moon hits at noon, optimism’s my best friend.

Chorus
Positive thinking, positive drinking,
Hope on the rocks, no second-guess shrinking.
Glass half-full, heart full and linking,
Smiles on draft from the stuff I’m drinking.

Verse 3
Captain Morgan says “more again,” Sailor Jerry keeps it merry,
Wild Turkey makes me quirky, comfort comes from a Southern Comfort fairy.
Jack Daniel’s rhymes with spaniels because my mind gets weirdly bright,
Miller Lite says just right while Samuel Adams dreams in the Badlands night.

Pour up courage, neat and steady, cause my thoughts are barroom ready,
Life gets heavy, life gets petty, so my grin stays big and sweaty.
I don’t drown sorrows; I dilute them. That’s the rule I’m choosing,
Every toast is just a truce with worries I refuse to keep pursuing.

Bridge
Maybe it’s delusion with a twist, maybe bliss with citrus mist,
But I define my happiness like a list my brain got half-dismissed.
Positive thinking fills my cup, positive drinking tops it up,
Hope’s my mixer, joy’s my pup, and fear can learn to sober up.

Verse 4
I raise a toast to the folks who say wordplay can’t save the day,
Cause rhyme is cheaper than Chardonnay and comes with fewer bills to pay.
So here’s to dreams with lemon zest, to hopes that fizz up in your chest,
To finding joy in your own mess and laughing more than you confess.

From Tanqueray to Fireball, from Guinness taps to Malibu calls,
Every rhyme becomes a wall against the doubts that try to stall.
Maybe this is cheesy thinking, maybe I should slow the drinking,
But life gets better, I keep linking all my grins with what I’m drinking.

Final Chorus
Positive thinking, positive drinking,
Sip it slow so the joy keeps syncing.
Raise your glass, keep on winking,
Life tastes sweeter when hope’s what you’re drinking.

Outro
So here’s to rhymes and corks and clinks,
To bright ideas and brighter drinks.
My happy thoughts don’t need deep thinking…
Just positive thinking and positive drinking.
