Karaoke Nights

Pa grabbed the mic and belted out Cher,
The cows fled fast and Ma said a prayer.
Granny sang Elvis with full hip flair,
Dislocated both hips and three folding chairs.
Uncle Jeb crooned a love song to brisket,
The meat cried softly–then he tried to kiss it.
Ma hit high notes with gospel rage,
The speakers sparked and burst off the stage.
We set up lights from the tractor’s beam,
And danced in mud to a Conway dream.
Cousin Lou rapped “Baby Got Back,”
While twerking fellas threw out their backs.
The mayor performed in sequins and fog,
Said, “I’m Beyoncé,” then tripped on the dog.
Even the chickens squawked on cue,
Sang backup vocals to “Don’t Cry for Moo.”
So if you’re ever down by the feed store light,
Come howl your soul on karaoke night.
