Texas Town Holds First Annual “Possum Parade,” Immediately Regrets It

Ma said, “They’re marching… real slow.”
Pa added, “And fakin’ death every third row.”
The mayor waved from a possum float,
While kids screamed, “That one’s got a throat!”
Banjos played “The Tail Drag Waltz,”
As taxidermy floats got applause and faults.
One possum latched to a congressman’s leg,
And hissed a speech about scrambled egg.
Vendors sold ‘Possum Punch’ in mugs,
While EMTs handled faintin’ thugs.
It ended in chaos, trash, and teeth,
But still returns each fall beneath.
Now city folks arrive to see,
If roadkill counts as family tree.
